Gemini Desktop

• How does Gemini Desktop work ?
  
  When you log in to Gemini Desktop in online mode, your Gemini web app data is visible to you as per your Gemini rights. Any changes you make are simultaneously reflected in your Gemini web app.
  
  To work offline, you first have to login in online mode and click download to bring your Gemini data to your local machine. Then  you have to login in offline mode.You will be able to make changes/updates to your Gemini data. To upload your changes/updates, you have to relogin in online mode and click synchronise. This will update your Gemini Desktop online mode and Gemini web app.
  
• Unable to login to Gemini Desktop ?
  
  

  Gemini Desktop Version 3.5 +

  Gemini add-on products, including Gemini Desktop accept Gemini  and Windows Authentication.

  Configure IIS to allow all verbs for the ASHX. Refer to the section on REST Web Services (API) in the Gemini Installation Guide.

  For Windows authentication, in IIS 'Allow Anonymous User' option should be uncheck/disabled.

  Note: For Gemini Scheduler and Gemini add-on products to work with Windows Authentication, please implement the changes recommended in this Microsoft KB Article and then disable anonymous access in IIS.

  Are you using a proxy server? If yes, then you'll need to select the Proxy Server option in the login pane and specify the IP address of the proxy server and port number in the format IP Address:Port number e.g. 192.168.1.100:8080   In case you are still not able to log in, please send us (support@countersoft.com) output from DebugView, which can be downladed from here.

   

  Gemini Desktop Version 3.1.2

  Gemini add-ons require Microsoft WSE 3.0 installed and running on the Gemini server. WSE 3.0 can be downloaded and installed from here
  

  Gemini add-on products, including Gemini Desktop only accept Gemini  authentication, so you will need to log in using Gemini credentials.

• What is the difference between 'Download' and 'Synchronize' ?
  
  Use the Download button to download Gemini Issue data to your local machine.
  
  Use the Synchronize button  to merge the changes you made in off line mode with your Gemini web app.
  
• Where is Offline data stored?
  
  C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\CounterSoft\DisconnectedData
  
• Can I select which projects I want to download?
  
  Yes. Version 3.5 (tentative release date: May 2009) onwards this option will be available. Please refer to the Gemini Add-on Products User Guide
  
• How can I tell which issues have I updated/changed in offline mode?
  
  You updated/changed your issues in offline mode. When you relogin in online mode the status bar at the bottom of the window will indicated how many issues are pending synchronisation. Plus, issues you deleted in offline mode will be highlighted in red and issues you updated will be highlighted in green.
  
• What happens in case an issue that was previously assigned to me gets reassigned or deleted while I am working on it in Offline mode?
  
  When you try to synchronise in online mode, a warning message will appear. Changes made in Gemini web app prevail.
  
• What happens in case an issue is updated simultaneously in Gemini Desktop offline mode and Gemini web app?
  
  When you try to synchronise in online mode, a warning and both changes will be displayed. You will have the option to retain your changes or the changes that were made in Gemini web app.
  
• What does Screen Capture do?
  
  You can use the Screen Capture utility within Gemini Desktop to take a screen shot, add comments, annotate and save as a graphic file in several popular formats such as jpg, png, bmp.  The graphic file is added as a comment attachment to the selected issue.
  
• Is Gemini Desktop localized in my language? If not, can it be done?
  
  The following languages are available- UK English, US English, Dutch, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Greek, Russian, Czech, Slovak, Swedish, Portuguese, Brazilian Portuguese, Japanese, Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional.
  
  At present other languages cannot be added. If you would like us to consider adding your language, please send us an email at support@countersoft.com
  
• Is there a single sign on option for all Gemini add on products ?
  
  This functionality will be available in version 3.5 (tentative release date: May 2009)

Gemini TimeTracker

• Unable to login to Gemini TimeTracker ?
  
  

  Gemini TimeTracker Version 1.5 +

  Gemini add-on products, including Gemini TimeTracker accept Gemini  and Windows Authentication.

• Can I add time manually ?
  
  Yes, by clicking on the 'Manual Time Entry' icon.
  
• Can I pause time tracking ? What happens when I lock my workstation ?
  
  Yes, you can pause time tracking by clicking on the pause icon. Starting with version 1.5 (tentatively scheduled for May 2009 release) time tracking will pause automatically when you lock your workstation.
  
• Which issues show in the issues list ?
  
  Only issues assigned to you will be available in time tracker to log time against.
  
• Is Gemini Time Tracker localized in my language? If not, can it be done ?

  Yes. Right click on the Time Tracker icon in the System Tray and select 'Start automatically on windows startup'.
  
• Can I retreive my last logged issue ?
  
  Yes. Click on the 'Last logged issue' in the Time Tracker tool bar.
  

Gemini Visual Studio

Gemini MSN

• How do I start using Gemini MSN?

• I am unable to create an Issue.
  
  Make sure Project default values have been set in Gemini web app
  

Gemini Outlook

• How does Outlook synchronize with Gemini?
  
  Gemini Outlook will only synchronize with Gemini when you click on the Sync button in the MS Outlook toolbar.
  
• What is the difference between 'Reset' and 'Synchronize' ?
  
  

  Use the Reset button if you want to discard changes you have made in your Gemini calendar and download Gemini Issue data from your Gemini web app.

  
  

  Use the Synchronize button in case you want to upload changes you have made in your Gemini calendar in Outlook and download updated Gemini Issue data from your Gemini web app.
  
• Why don't I see some of my issues in Outlook ?
  
  Only those issues will show as appointments in Outlook that have either a start or end date or both. Issues without start and end dates will only show on your To-Do List in the Task Pane in Outlook. Note: you cannot edit issue dates from the To-Do List.
  
• Can I view Issue details in Outlook?
  
  You can view issue description, start and due date. A url link to the issue in your Gemini web app is provided in case you want to view issue details. 
  
• Can I turn off reminders?
  
  Yes, you can easily turn off reminders by changing the reminder option in the Gemini toolbar in Outlook .
  
• Unable to install Gemini Outlook add-in on a Windows Vista machine. Get the following error- "Error writing to file: Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.Common.dll. Verify that you have access to the directory."
  
  The most likely reason is the Vista UAC (User Account Control). Disable UAC, run the install, once done, enable UAC.
  
  A few other trouble shooting steps- 
  
  If you have UAC turned off, turn it on and try reinstalling.
  
  Disable your virus scanner during the installation.
  
  You can try to un-register and re-register Windows Installer-
  1. Click Start, Run. Typemsiexec /unreg, press enter
  2. Click Start, Run. Type msiexec /regserver, press enter
  

Gemini Application Error Manager

• What does the Gemini Application Error Manager do?
  
  

  This can be used to capture errors that you applications may encounter, and log them as Issues within your Gemini installation.

  Optionally, a Form can be displayed that provides a graceful method to ask the user to submit the error to your Issue Tracker.
  

Gemini Scheduler

• Windows Authentication
  
  For Gemini Scheduler and Gemini add-on products to work with Windows Authentication, please implement the changes recommended in this Microsoft KB Article and then disable 'Allow Anonymous User' in IIS.
  
  
• Where is the Gemini Scheduler installed?
  
  Gemini Scheduler is usually installed under "C:\Program Files" and runs as a Windows Service.
  
• What Service Account should the Gemini Scheduler be assigned?
  
  Usually, the LOCAL SYSTEM account is adequate for the Gemini Scheduler to run as a Windows Service.
  

Gemini Data Import Utility

• My data import fails to import issues into Gemini
  
  

  Please go over the entire Gemini Data Import User Guide prior to using to the Data Import Utility.

  Make sure REST Web Services in IIS are set per Section 9.5 of the Gemini Installation Guide.
